When you become a member of the Spokane Folklore Society, you help to pay for the overhead that our event admissions do not entirely cover, including hall rent, performer guarantees, event insurance, website maintenance, and much more. In return, your membership qualifies you for discounts at all SFS sponsored events. Currently, you will receive $3 off of Wednesday contra dance admissions and $2 off of Saturday contra dance admissions. In addition, you will receive our online newsletter, as well as email notifications about regional events.
Membership is $30 per individual and $45 for family. Business membership is $100 (which results in your business being listed in our newsletter). Donations beyond membership dues are appreciated. Annual membership: September 1 through August 31.
There are three ways to join the Spokane Folklore Society:
1) At any SFS sponsored event
2) Download the membership form, print, and mail it and check to SFS Box 141 Spokane, WA 99210
3) Fill out the following form and pay by credit card on-line
The SFS is a volunteer-based organization run by an all volunteer board. Volunteers make our events possible. There are many ways that you can be involved.
Assist at our events– just come about a half hour early and put out the contra dance sign, fill the water container, carry sound equipment, set up the registration table or open windows. Or stick around after the dance, and help put away all of these items.
Graphics, writing, and web management – we need volunteers to help maintain our newsletter by writing articles.
Host our events – we need volunteers to help at the registration table, renewing memberships, collecting admissions, and paying performers.
Join our board – the ultimate in volunteering, become a board member and help create and organize events.
Join the Jam Band – here is an opportunity to play with others in a supportive setting. The Jam Band consists of all levels of musicianship dedicated to having fun and playing for contra dances.
